Review of My New Watch Case
After much deliberation, I finally decided to invest in a proper watch case. My previous experience with a cheap 6-slot watch case left me unsatisfied due to its poor quality, featuring a plastic clear top and glued vinyl. To avoid a repeat of that mistake, I opted for a Hardwood and Glass Case from Amazon for $53.
First Impressions
Overall, I found the case to be decent. The internal cushions and partitions are on par with the cheap case I had before, but I did notice that if you pull too hard, they can pop out.
Key Issues
- Low Height Clearance: The second tray has a very low height clearance, which posed a challenge for my G-Shocks. While the DW5600 fits just fine, larger models might scrape the bottom, which is less than ideal.
- Loose Tray: The second tray also feels quite loose and jiggly. You have to guide it into place, but this is a minor inconvenience.
Strengths
On the plus side, the solid glass top is gorgeous and really makes the watches stand out. This feature alone makes me happy with my investment.
Closing Thoughts
In my opinion, everyone who has a couple of watches should invest in a proper watch case. While this hardwood and glass case is a decent basic option, I find myself wishing I had opted for a Wolf Design Windsor case instead.
The Windsor series, while 2-3 times more expensive (ranging from $100 to $180), seems to offer a much better quality and aesthetic appeal. Plus, one version comes with a second utility tray for holding tools, straps, and other essentials, which could be incredibly useful. I anticipate that in a few years, as I acquire more high-end watches, I will likely upgrade to a Wolf Design Windsor.
