I’m surprised so few people have posted comparisons between these two iconic shoes:
- Air Jordan 1 Low
- Air Force 1 ‘07
Both are basketball shoes and famous in their own right and they share similar price points of $110 with comparable materials and build qualities.
Versatility - Air Force 1
I give it to Air Force 1’s. In Triple White colorway it can match so many outfits and styles…
A close second are Jordan 1’s in certain colorways can make a bland outfit really pop. The one exception, Air Force 1's look better with baggy jeans as they are a chunkier shoe profile. Jordan 1's can pair with slimmer jeans.
Comfort - Air Force 1
I’ll have to break in the leather on the Jordan 1’s as they are stiffer than Air Force 1’s. But with the thicker sole and air unit my feeling Air Force 1’s will win out for long haul treks.
I'm sure after the stiff leather on the Jordan 1's break-in it'll be just as comfortable as the Air Force 1's and remind me of breaking in a pair of Adidas Stan Smith's.
Another plus of the Air Force they have more mid sole support and tend to wear wider than Air Jordan's. I'm able to wear size 10.5 for Air Jordan's and manage 10's for the Air Force.
Build Quality - Jordan 1
I have loose threads, some glue and misalignment on the Air Force 1, nothing major. The leather and materials also feel cheaper than on the crisp Jordan 1’s.
Jordan 1’s feel more premium of a shoe even though they both retail near the same price point.
Look Appeal - Jordan 1 for show, Air Force 1 for subdued look
Jordan 1’s are all about announcing their presence. You know when someone has a pair on.
Air Force 1 and especially in triple whites are more subdued and meant to show off the silhouette of the sneakers paired with your outfit than be the center of attention.
Sometimes you want to show, sometimes you want refinement. Both work.
I really love how the Jordan 1's look with a pair of jeans. The Air Force 1's could work, but certain styles of jeans looked funny. Air Force 1's are great with almost any pair of shorts, while the Jordan 1's could also work, but felt a bit much.
Conclusion - Air Force 1, if you can only own 1 pair of shoes.
If you can own only one and need to wear it daily…Air Force 1. If you can rotate shoes then Jordan 1’s are a must.
Jordan 1’s can work as a daily pair too, but lack the versatility and comfort afforded the Air Force 1's.
Fortunately, for me I can rock 4 pairs of shoes:
- Air Jordan 1 - Red/White/Black
- Air Force 1 - White
- Court Vision - White/Blue
- Converse All-Star - White
I also have a pair of Black Nike Miler's...but was underwhelmed on the comfort and versatility of those shoes. In hindsight, I should have gotten a pair of Air Max Excee that was cheaper! But I'll rectify that shortly by picking up a second pair of Jordan 1's in 2023.
