Nike React Miler Review
After retiring my Adidas Superstars, I managed to survive for a while with the Adidas Stan Smiths, but I soon realized they were impractical for my work demands. With long hours on my feet, I needed something more supportive and comfortable.
Discovering React Foam
This led me to the Nike React Milers. These shoes feature an incredible amount of React foam cushioning in the sole, providing a soft, responsive feel with every step. The comfort they offer is phenomenal, making them ideal for endurance activities.
From my research, I learned that Nike developed React foam as a response to Adidas' Boost technology, which initially gained popularity, especially with Kanye West’s Yeezy collaborations. However, Boost has since fallen out of favor, possibly due to a lack of compelling narratives that resonate like those associated with legendary Nike models such as the Air Force 1, Air Jordans, or Air Max 90. This is unfortunate, as Adidas also boasts storied shoes like the Stan Smith and Superstars.
Pricing and Ergonomics
The React Milers typically retail for $130, but I found them for $100, and I've seen reports of people snagging them for as low as $40-50 at Nike outlet stores. If you can find them in that price range, they’re an unbeatable deal. At $100, they’re a bit harder to justify, but given my needs, they’re worth every penny.
If you need shoes for standing long hours—up to 10 hours—these are the perfect choice. While they may not have the same style appeal as Air Max or Air Jordans, they excel in comfort.
Review - First 24 Hours
I wore the React Milers for an entire workday, and I can confidently say they are the best shoes I’ve ever owned for standing 8-10 hours at a time.
I did experience some pain in the ball of my feet and along the sides near my small toes, but I attribute this to the necessary break-in period and existing foot injuries from my previous footwear.
The word “plush” perfectly describes the React Milers. Even though my feet felt sore after a long day, the discomfort was significantly less than what I experienced in the Superstars. I was limping by the fourth hour in the Adidas, while I felt perfectly fine in the Nikes.
