Exploring Affordable Wines from Costco
I finally got around to purchasing some wines at Costco that were recommended from various online sources. I had already tried the St. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon, which is decent, but I was particularly impressed with how delicious and affordable the Kirkland branded wines are.

Bulk Buys: Malbec & Friuli
The Malbec and Friuli are bulk buys that I recommend stocking up on, as they punch well above their price point. Both were incredibly affordable, and I'm testing them as I seek out basic wines that remain delicious. I want to mix it up and expand beyond my usual Trader Joe's staples.
It’s surprising to think that these bottles are cheaper than beer; for instance, a bottle of Friuli is around $5, while a six-pack of beer typically costs $10.
The Challenge of Finding Quality Reds Above $20
While I was okay with the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, I realized I may have had inflated expectations for a $20 wine. In contrast, the cheaper $5-10 bottles surprised and delighted me without any pretensions.
Not being able to find many recommended bulk buys, like the Gigondas or Bordeaux, could actually be a positive sign—perhaps it reflects their limited availability, indicating quality.
