Simplifying My Watch Collection
I've streamlined my collection since parting with the Apple SE2, focusing on three mechanical watches and three Casio models. This selection offers a good balance of variety and functionality.
Current Collection
- Everyday Wear: Any Casio or the Rolex Explorer
- Travel & Outdoors: G-Shock
- Flashy/Occasions: Omega Seamaster
Weight Breakdown
- Casios: ~50 grams each
- Rolex Explorer: ~100 grams
- Omega Seamaster: ~165 grams
Next Watch Considerations
I've always had my eye on the Speedmaster or Submariner, but the rising costs have made them less accessible. Currently, I'm seeing:
- Omega Speedmaster (Pre-owned): ~$4,000
- Rolex Submariner (Pre-owned): ~$8,000
Another contender is the Tudor Pelagos 39, which is priced similarly to the Speedmaster.
Price Sensitivity
Watches below $500-1,000 don't excite me anymore, as they often lack the fit and finish I appreciate in my Omega and Rolex. Interestingly, I found the Omega Seamaster to be an incredible deal at around $1,500, providing quality that outmatches many higher-priced options. My experience with the Omega has heightened my standards, making it hard to consider anything below $5,000.
Exploring Seiko
I’m intrigued by a few Seiko models in the $300-400 range that might offer the quality I'm looking for.
Current Daily Wear
For now, I’ll stick with the Rolex Explorer as my daily beater, enjoying its functionality and style.
