Studying for the MCSA Certification
The MCSA certification is proving to be much more rigorous than I initially anticipated. Currently, I'm focused on the first book, "Training Kit 70-461: Querying Microsoft SQL Server," and it's packed with a wealth of information. It's definitely taking me some time to digest everything, and I recognize that this will not be an easy journey.
Insights from the Study
Even though I've written and utilized much of the code discussed in the book over the years, the in-depth exploration of SQL Server's functionalities has really humbled me. I’m beginning to see how my previous coding practices might not be up to par with best practices, which is both eye-opening and motivating.
My Study Setup
My typical study arrangement includes:
- Iced Coffee: Keeps me refreshed and alert.
- iPad: For reading and taking notes.
- Headphones: Helps to block out distractions and immerse myself in the material.
- Pen & Paper: For jotting down key points and writing out examples.
I’m also trying to explore non-Starbucks locations for a change of scenery while studying. A new environment can really help boost my focus and creativity.
Moving Forward
Overall, I’m committed to this learning process. While it’s challenging, I’m excited about the opportunity to deepen my understanding of SQL Server and improve my coding skills. Here's to progress and growth in my MCSA journey!
Note to myself...finally passed the MCSA 70-461 on Jan 15, 2016. Took me long enough. But nice to review my old postings and remind myself that I tried and eventually followed through.
