Vintage Zenith Watch Cal 126 on NATO

I was curious and tried the Zenith on a NATO strap.  Watch has  19 mm lug width, but a 20 mm NATO fits snugly.  Makes the watch more useful as the weather has been hot lately and ruining the leather band.  Also, in this instance it raises the watch a bit off my wrist and makes winding much easier. Thoughts on Vintage This watch is 60 years old.  It still works great and not many things man made can claim such a feat.  Who knows where this watch has been, where its traveled and the things it's 'seen'.  Kinda cool if you think about it, it'll continue another adventure with me.  Where shall we go?  Fun with NATO On the baby blue NATO...

Eton Microlink FR160 Radio -- Sticky Residue

I bought an Eton Microlink FR160 Handcrank Radio for my Emergency Kit a few years ago and it's great, except for one thing....over time a sticky residue coats the radio's external surface.  It was driving me nuts and I thought something was wrong. Fortunately, rather than dump it I researched online and learned Eton Radios are coated with a substance to make them easier to grip, but over time it degrades and becomes a sticky mess.  Some isopropyl alcohol and cotton balls can clean most of the gunk.  Some paint maybe lost in the process, but the radio at least is not sticky anymore.

Seiko SSB003 on NATO Strap

I'm really digging the Seiko SSB003 on NATO strap.  It's very light and comfortable to wear and lends itself a sense of 'appropriateness' in a casual setting like a beach resort.  I have several variations of 20mm NATO straps, but this dark navy blue and red stripe combo seems the most appealing. I'm hankering again for possibly another Seiko Quartz chronograph...possibly the SNDF87, that has a similar color scheme as the Tudor Heritage Chrono...for a fraction of the cost.  Other option is a Seiko SSB031 or variant that uses the same movement, but has lume on the hands and hour markers making it more useful for evening wear.  We'll see...for now the SSB003 is proving fun.

More overnight shifts...cup of coffee to start

Here's to more overnight work.  Coffee. Didn't have much time before the first shift and ate Burger King.  I'll try something else tomorrow.

Hollys Coffee (South Korea)

Hollys Coffee is another Major Chain of Coffee Shops in South Korea.  I like that there are so many different shops and I consider this my alternative to Angel-in-us when I'm seeking a Sweet Coffee Fix.  This place reminds me of Seattle's Best in terms of Ambience and Decor.  They also have a fairly decent PahtBinSoo (Korean Shaved Ice w/ Sweet Beans).

Tour Le Jous Bakery (South Korea)

Tour Le Jous is actually more a Bakery Shop in South Korea, but I like to go there for Iced Coffee to pair with their tasty baked good choices.  The sandwiches are not bad.

Angel-in-us Coffee (South Korea)

Angel-in-us is one of several major Coffee Chains in South Korea.  I usually hit them up when I'm at one of the many outdoor Shopping Districts or Mall.  Their Sweeter Variety of Drink Options are decent.  Also, a great way to cool off when its the Summer Months.

7-Eleven (South Korea) - Why cant we get this back in the States?

Idk how they do it, but 7-Eleven in Asia is just way better than what we get back in the States.  I would love it if they carried the same products that I found while in South Korea or Japan back home.  Not only that, the prices are much more reasonable.

Cafe Pascucci (South Korea)

Idk why, but I actually like Cafe Pascucci quite a bit.  I usually ordered their Sweet Flavored Drinks and are similar to Angel-in-us.  At same time, its possible I go here as they have a location @ Gimhae Airport and I'm always there...

Bought another watch...Vintage Zenith Cal 126

I bought another watch.  A Zenith Brand Caliber 126.  Dress Watch with Sub Second Dial.  Paid $450 + $20 shipping.  A simple, entry-level, vintage piece to round out my humble collection.  I could buy a Nomos Tangente, but the Zenith just speaks to me.  Idk...perhaps old age setting in?  In any case, that's enough watches for 2015.  Enough for quite some time as I have plenty to wear now.  It should arrive in the mail in about a week and I'll post pics after I've examined it further.  Hopefully, it's the genuine article and in decent condition. Some basic questions I will try to answer is what specific Caliber is the movement?  Been seeing various info about the nuances between Cal 40, 126, 126-6, et cetera.  It looks a bit beat up, so not sure if I got a deal or not. At minimum so long as it's authentic, working and wearable that should suffice. Zenith Caliber 126 Here are what specs and info I could gather on this movement. Several Vers

Island Vintage Coffee @ Whalers Village Maui

Enjoying a Frozen Green Tea Matcha @ Island Vintage Coffee in the Whalers Village - Maui.  $ 4.75 for a Medium. Some downtime before next overnight shift...

Starbucks Mocha Coconut

I can smell the coconut, but otherwise it tastes like a regular Mocha.  This has a ridiculous 300 calories!  Sticking to plain black coffee.

Highland Park Scotch Whisky 12 year -- 750 mL

I decided on trying the Highland Park Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 year.  It'll take me a few sittings before I get a sense of how this drink holds up and if it matches the reviews I've read online. Price It's about double the price of a Speyside Whisky such as Glenlivet or Glenfiddich and on par with a Macallan 12 year. Taste Macallan is the smoothest I've had among 12 year old single malts.  Highland Park 12 ranks just below that.  There is just a hint of bite that nips on the periphery and it's slight peatiness gives it a more sophisticated flavor and aroma. Overall, well done.  It packages quite a bit in a mid-range single malt without sacrificing too much.  I will agree with the online reviews that this would be the recommended choice for first time single malt whisky drinkers as it has much more to experience and learn than a Macallan 12. One negative, there is something a little off on the fragrance.  I cannot quite pinpoint what it is, but in the background

Future Whisky Collection

I am in the process of moving and hope to establish a more respectable Whisky Collection. These are my planned choices: Macallan 12 Glenlivet 12 Highland 12 Laphroig 10 Glenfiddich 12 Figure total cost of about $300 - 350  I'll check my local liquor store and start getting a better sense of the pricing and final selection. Update Seems Costco has the best price around.  While selection is limited they have almost all the whisky's I would want for my initial collection. I've whittled it down further as my desire is not to amass a huge assortment, but a few for personal enjoyment and build up my palate 'memory' before venturing into this exciting new world. Update# 2 -- 7/15/15 After I've tried these five (5) starter bottles, I want to try some higher end versions and considering Glenlivet 18 year and Macallan 18 year.  Then go back down to more 12 year varieties...sounds good to me.
