DIY Desk Upgrade: Transforming an Ikea Coffee Table into a Spacious Desktop

DIY Desk Upgrade: Transforming a Coffee Table into a Spacious Desktop Sometimes, the best DIY projects come from a little creativity and repurposing what you already have. Recently, I found myself with a spare Bankesta coffee table and an old desk that felt a bit too cramped. That’s when inspiration struck—I decided to combine the two, and the result was surprisingly perfect. A Simple Yet Stylish Upgrade The coffee table added an extra foot of width and a quarter foot of length to my old desk, giving me a lot more workspace without sacrificing style. The color combination also turned out great, blending seamlessly with the rest of my setup. Easy Assembly with Minimal Tools Putting it all together was a breeze. All I needed were a few 1.5-inch #10 wood screws—just two packs, costing only a few bucks. I tapped the screws into place, and everything fit perfectly without any hassle. A Practical and Budget-Friendly Solution I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Not only did I give new ...

2025 - Travel - Hawaii and Japan

Planning My Next Adventure: Hawaii & Japan I’m gearing up for another exciting trip to Hawaii and Japan , this time for two weeks of relaxation, exploration, and re-discovery. Having visited both destinations multiple times, this trip will be more about unwinding and exploring new places, rather than the usual tourist checklist. What makes this year even better is that the prices are surprisingly affordable, and the exchange rates are favorable—meaning it’s actually more budget-friendly than my 2023 trip. Here’s my itinerary for the next two weeks: Planned Itinerary: Honolulu (4 days) Osaka (5 days) Tokyo (6 days) Total: 15 days Honolulu – 4 Days I’ll be flying into Honolulu (HNL) on a Delta Boeing 767-300 . I’ve been to Hawaii several times, but there’s something about the islands that always feels like home. I’m staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village , my go-to spot for its relaxed atmosphere and great discount rates. It’s the perfect place to ease into vacation mo...

Breathing New Life into My HP ab292nr Laptop + Windows 11 + 16GB RAM

Breathing New Life into My HP ab292nr Laptop I recently managed to upgrade my trusty HP ab292nr laptop—featuring a 6th-gen Intel i7-6700HQ processor—to Windows 11. Considering I primarily use it for minor tasks, this upgrade easily extends its life by another 5–7 years. It’s pretty satisfying to see a nearly decade-old machine still going strong! Maxing Out Upgrades: RAM and SSD To boost performance, I upgraded the laptop to 16GB of RAM and swapped in a 1TB SSD. Honestly, it might be a bit overkill given what I use it for, but DDR3 RAM is so cheap nowadays (around $12) that it felt like a “why not?” decision. The upgrades definitely made the system feel snappier, even if I don’t push it to its limits. Purpose and Practicality My goal has always been to maintain at least one computer for each major operating system, and this laptop fits nicely as my go-to Windows machine for everyday tasks like web browsing, Word, and Excel. Even with Windows 11 onboard, I’m still a bit hesitant to rely...

My 2025 Wardrobe Refresh: A Balanced, Minimalist Approach

My 2025 Wardrobe Refresh: A Balanced, Minimalist Approach For 2025, I’ve given my wardrobe a major refresh, replacing almost all my shirts. Some of them had been in rotation for four years and no longer looked their best. Since shirts are relatively inexpensive to replace, I’ve decided on a simple rule: each shirt gets 30 daily wears before being retired. With 12 shirts in my rotation, that means they’ll last me a full year (360 days). I’ve also replaced both my jeans and shorts.  As they are also inexpensive I’ll replace them annually as well and budget them for 180 daily wears as a benchmark for replacement. Total is about $300 per year to achieve this.  Not that bad at all. Streamlining to a 50-Item Wardrobe I’ve also standardized my entire wardrobe to 50 items, which strikes a perfect balance between redundancy and choice—enough variety to cover all occasions without feeling overwhelming. This setup keeps my style consistent and effortless while ensuring I always have fres...
